8th Printemps de l’art contemporain in Marseille

The 8th edition of Printemps de l’art contemporain takes place in Marseille from May 5 to 28, 2016, uniting alternative spaces, galleries, and major institutions like FRAC PACA and MuCEM. The event features a cross-section of contemporary art, starting at Atelier Tchikebe, a screen-printing studio showing Tania Mouraud's serigraphs on aluminum, glass, and mirror that quote poet Benjamin Fondane. Young artists are highlighted at Château de Servières with the Biennale des jeunes créateurs d’Europe et de Méditerranée, including Floryan Varennes' textile and sculptural works exploring gender and social hierarchy. Tank Art Space presents Catarina de Oliveira and Amandine Guruceaga's organic, hybrid mirror pieces. Isabelle Ferreira shows new works at Togu Art Club, while Louise Hervé and Chloé Maillet screen their film 'Spectacles sans objet' at Rond Point Projects Room, a poetic research on utopian practices and community rituals from Jacques-Louis David's students to the Saint-Simonians. At Friche la Belle de Mai, the group exhibition 'Les Possédés' features works from private collections in the Marseille region, offering a sociological view of local collectors' tastes.
