88% of New Collectors Ready to Donate More to Museums, Avant Arte Report Finds

The second edition of Avant Arte's Collector Report, titled 'A New Generation of Patrons,' reveals that 88% of new-generation collectors have both the resources and desire to increase donations to public museums. The survey of 3,100 international collectors from Avant Arte's community, supplemented by interviews with institutional partners and artists, shows that 86% consider museums an indispensable social good, and 92% agree on their central role in conservation, education, and art promotion. However, 75% believe museums should improve engagement with younger audiences, including through social media. Half of the collectors are under 40, two-thirds under 55, hailing from over 100 countries, with concentrations in North America, Western Europe, and East Asia. Passion for collecting and self-expression drive most, with only 7% citing status. Over one-third spend more than €10,000 annually on art, with the highest share from East Asia, particularly South Korea, where two-thirds exceed that amount. The report highlights a 48% increase in willingness to donate compared to 2024, with 94% recognizing the need for additional support. Key motivators include perceived exchange (82%) and alignment with institutional mission (79%). Two-thirds favor greater transparency on donation impact. Avant Arte was founded by Curtis Penning, Christian Luiten, and Mazdak Sanii to expand art access through limited editions and direct sales.
