8208 Lighting Design Festival Returns to Como with Second Edition

The 8208 Lighting Design Festival, named after an asteroid dedicated to Alessandro Volta, is holding its second edition in Como, Italy, until November 24, 2017. The festival is organized by Fondazione Alessandro Volta and the Comune di Como, with support from Fondazione Cariplo and patronage from Triennale di Milano. The theme for 2017 is #Boundary, interpreted through light installations across the city. Works include Marco Barotti's 'Imaginary Division' at Molo di Sant'Agostino, Daniela di Maro's 'Inner Voice' at Porta Torre, Kasjo Studio's 'Horizontal Interference' at Giardini del Tempio Voltiano, VENIVIDIMULTIPLEX's 'Waves' in the same gardens, Massimo Uberti's 'Casaluce' in via Pretorio, and Vikas Patil's installation at Villa Bernasconi in Cernobbio. A permanent light artwork, 'Twisting Connection,' has been created at Ostello Bello Lake Como Hostel, resulting from a Light Art Residency involving IED Como and IED Barcelona, led by artist Alessandro Lupi. The residency included students Augustine Fernandez, Ludmilla Canzi, Massimiliano Mazza, Lea Blanchard, Elizaveta Mamedova, and Paula Chacártegui Horrach. The first edition in 2016 featured works by Carlo Bernardini, Sophie Guyot, Tom Dekyvere, Alessandro Lupi, and Olo Creative Farm.
