8 Online Museum Collections and Catalogues to Explore During Quarantine
The article presents eight digital resources for exploring museum collections and artist catalogues from home. The MoMA has completed the online catalogue raisonné of Louise Bourgeois's prints, containing 5,410 sheets, after eight years of work. The City of Chicago launched the Mural Registry to document and protect street art, following controversial removals. The Victoria & Albert Museum offers digital access to Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks, donated by John Forster in 1876. The VERONA project by the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage provides high-resolution images of Jan van Eyck's works, including the Turin-Milan Hours. The catalogue raisonné of Edgar Degas, by Michel Schulman, is online since March 2018, with the complete works expected by end of 2020. The Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí spent 17 years compiling the catalogue raisonné of Salvador Dalí, launched in 2004 and completed in 2017. The catalogue raisonné of Sol LeWitt's wall drawings, published by Artifex Press in 2018, includes 1,350 works. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has made over 200,000 images available online via an API, under Creative Commons Zero license.
