7Artisans has launched the M 35mm f/2.8, a compact prime lens for Leica M and Leica Thread Mount (L39) systems, priced at $428. The lens features a 61.8-degree angle of view on full-frame cameras, a seven-element, five-group double Gauss optical design with modern coatings, and a seven-blade aperture ranging from f/2.8 to f/22. It is manual focus only, rangefinder-coupled, with a minimum focusing distance of 0.7 meters on Leica M bodies (1 meter on some L39 cameras). The all-metal construction weighs 88 grams and measures 28mm in length, with a 34mm filter thread. Included are two hoods: one for flare reduction and one as a protective bumper.
