7Artisans and SG-image Tease New Lenses for Photographers

Two Chinese lens companies, 7Artisans and SG-image, have teased new lenses aimed at filling market gaps at affordable prices. 7Artisans is hinting at an ultra-wide full-frame prime lens, likely the second in its Max-series, following the Max AF 135mm f/1.8 released for Nikon Z-mount in May 2026 and later for E-mount and L-Mount at $689. The teaser image shows a lens with a bulbous front element and petal-shaped hood, suggesting an ultra-wide design suitable for night sky photography. This would compete with Nikon's Nikkor Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S and Z 14-30mm f/4, Viltrox AF 16mm f/1.8, and Tamron 12-20mm f/2.8 ($1,799). Meanwhile, SG-image has teased a 35mm f/1.4 autofocus lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras (E, Z, X-mounts), available in black, silver, and black with silver ring. Equivalent to a 52.5mm prime, it fills a rare niche for autofocus APS-C 35mm f/1.4 lenses, with Fujifilm's XF 35mm f/1.4 R and 7Artisans' 35mm f/1.4 AF for X-mount being the only existing options. SG-image is known for autofocus lenses, so this new prime is expected to feature AF. Both teasers promise to address specific voids in the lens market at competitive prices.
