780 Arrested in Violent PSG Celebrations Across France
French police arrested 780 people after violent clashes erupted in Paris and other cities on Saturday night following Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League win. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez reported 57 officers wounded, mostly minor injuries, as fans set fires, vandalized shops, and attempted to storm a Paris police station. Most incidents occurred in the Champs Élysées neighborhood and near the Parc des Princes stadium. Police intervened five times to prevent traffic blocking on the ring road. Nuñez stated that planned celebrations at Champ de Mars near the Eiffel Tower on Sunday afternoon would proceed as scheduled. Incidents were reported in about 15 cities outside Paris, with one to two shops vandalized each. Of those detained, 480 were in the Paris area. The Paris prosecutors' office placed 277 people in formal police custody, including 82 minors, for offenses including assault on police, theft, vandalism, and disturbing public order.
