75th Cannes Film Festival opens with zombie comedy, honors 'Truman Show' and 'Top Gun'
The 75th Cannes Film Festival is set to take place from May 17 to 28, 2022, along the Croisette. This year's official poster pays tribute to Peter Weir's 1998 film 'The Truman Show.' Opening the festival is Michel Hazanavicius's zombie comedy 'Coupez!' (internationally known as 'Final Cut'). Competing for the Palme d'Or are Mario Martone's 'Nostalgia,' featuring Pierfrancesco Favino and Francesco Di Leva. A special tribute will honor 'Top Gun,' with Tom Cruise attending the European premiere of 'Top Gun: Maverick.' Baz Luhrmann's 'Elvis,' accompanied by a track from Måneskin, will also premiere. Vincent Lindon leads the jury, which includes Jasmine Trinca, who will showcase her directorial debut 'Marcel!' in the Rendez-Vous section. Italian films include 'Le otto montagne' with Alessandro Borghi and Luca Marinelli, Marco Bellocchio's 'Esterno notte,' and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi's 'Les Amandiers.' Alice Rohrwacher will present a Disney short, while Alba Rohrwacher stars in 'Marcel!'
