7-stop guide to contemporary Antwerp
Antwerp showcases a unique fusion of medieval, Baroque, and modern art and architecture. The Mode Museum (MoMu) has been undergoing renovations since April 18, 2018, with completion expected next year. Currently, it features the exhibition "Textile as Resistance," running until February 16 at Texture Kortrijk. The fashion department of the Royal Academy is known for training the Antwerp Six and Martin Margiela. The Museum of Contemporary Art (M HKA), which underwent renovations in 2017, boasts a permanent collection of 5,000 pieces and is led by Bart De Baere. Since 2013, the former home-studio of Panamarenko has been accessible to the public. Additionally, the Museum aan de Stroom (MAS) and Zaha Hadid's Port House, completed in 2016, celebrate Antwerp's maritime heritage, along with Jan Fabre's Troubleyn Laboratorium, which is also open to visitors.
