67th Berlinale: Golden Bear goes to Ildikó Enyedi, Milena Canonero receives lifetime award

The 67th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) took place from February 9 to 19, 2017, at the Berlinale Palast. The festival opened with Etienne Comar's 'Django' and concluded with the Golden Bear awarded to 'On Body and Soul' by Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi, a love story set in a slaughterhouse. The Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize went to 'Félicité' by Alain Gomis. Aki Kaurismäki won Best Director for 'The Other Side of Hope' but did not accept the award in person. The Alfred Bauer Prize was given to 'Spoor' by Agnieszka Holland. Best Actress was Kim Minhee for 'On the Beach at Night Alone', Best Actor was Georg Friedrich for 'Bright Nights'. Best Screenplay went to Sebastián Lelio and Gonzalo Maza for 'A Fantastic Woman', and Best Artistic Contribution to Dana Bunescu for editing 'Ana, Mon Amour'. The Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievement was awarded to costume designer Milena Canonero, who dedicated the prize to Piero Tosi. Notable star-studded films included 'The Dinner', 'Final Portrait', 'La reina de España', 'Sage Femme', 'Trainspotting 2', and 'Logan', the latter marking Hugh Jackman's farewell to the Wolverine character.
