65th Premio Campigna Returns to Santa Sofia with AI-Themed 'Uncoded Entities'

On October 25, 2025, the 65th edition of the Premio Campigna opened in Santa Sofia, curated by Lara Gaeta under the theme 'Uncoded Entities – Entità non codificate'. The event, promoted by the Comune di Santa Sofia with support from Fondazione Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì and organized with Proloco di Santa Sofia, transformed the small Romagna town into an international art hub. The Premio Campigna, founded in 1955 by local citizens, originally a competitive prize, later shifted to a non-competitive research and experimentation format. This year's edition featured three venues: Sala Milleluci, Teatro Mentore, and Galleria Comunale d'Arte Contemporanea Vero Stoppioni. Artists Cuoghi Corsello, Aja Ireland, Joey Holder, and ToffoloMuzik presented performances, installations, and sound works exploring the boundaries between human, non-human, and artificial intelligence. Highlights included Corsello's 'Selettore n. 8' (1999), donated by collector Vezio Tomasinelli, a light and sound vortex; Ireland and Holder's performance 'Moult Mouth' at Teatro Mentore, a ritual blending electronic and carnal elements; and Corsello's 'sintografie' alongside Ireland and Holder's video 'Cryptid' at Galleria Vero Stoppioni, depicting hybrid and post-human worlds generated by AI. The event aims to re-establish Santa Sofia as a vital center for contemporary art in Romagna.
