exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Royal Academy of Arts in London is currently presenting an exhibition called 'Gauguin and the Impressionists: Masterpieces from the Ordrupgaard Collection.' This fascinating display includes 60 pieces of art from Danish collectors Wilhelm and Henny Hansen, who compiled their collection between 1916 and 1920. It features works from renowned artists like Edgar Degas, Édouard Manet, Claude Monet, and Paul Gauguin, among others. The collection was first shown at their home, Ordrupgaard, which opened to the public in 1918. Henny Hansen later donated it to Denmark in 1951, turning it into a museum by 1953. The exhibition runs until October 18, 2020, and many of these artworks are being shown in the UK for the first time.
