60 Artists Reimagine Alias Covers for One-Day Milan Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Sociologist and video painter Giovanni Bai, founder of the nomadic Museo Teo, has invited 60 artists, photographers, writers, critics, and historians to reinterpret the most enigmatic headlines from Alias, the Sunday supplement of Italian daily Il Manifesto. Each participant randomly drew a headline and created an original work without reading the corresponding article. The resulting pieces—spanning painting, photography, drawing, video, visual poetry, objects, and a specially composed song—will be exhibited for a single day, February 24, 2023, at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan. Admission is free. The exhibition, titled 'Anamorfosi del Presente' (Anamorphoses of the Present), follows Museo Teo's tradition of staging ephemeral events in unconventional spaces to democratize art. Neither Alias nor Il Manifesto were informed of the initiative, allowing the organizers complete creative freedom. All works will be collected in Museo Teo Artfanzine #45/2022, edited by Carolina Gozzini and Giovanni Bai.
