festival-fair · 2026-05-05

The 5th edition of the Festival del Giornalismo Culturale took place from October 12 to 15, 2017, across Pesaro and Urbino, Italy. Directed by Lella Mazzoli (LaRiCA, University of Urbino Carlo Bo) and Giorgio Zanchini (RAI journalist), the event featured discussions on cultural heritage, digital communication, and art criticism. Alfredo Valeri (Civita) noted that only one in four Italian museums manages a social media page, often with internal difficulties. The MAXXI museum in Rome presented chatbot projects, while Invasioni digitali organized irreverent events. Antonio Pinelli argued that effective art writing requires art history training, while Costantino d'Orazio (Radio2) emphasized storytelling over description, especially for radio. In Fano, panels on print media revealed that despite declining sales, new cultural supplements have emerged since 2011, praised for quality by Massimiliano Tonelli. Eric Jozsef warned of cultural ghettoization, while Piero Dorfles linked cultural growth to GDP. Virtual technologies were showcased, including the Museo Tolomeo in Bologna (directed by Fabio Fornasari) and the Museo Tattile Omero (presided by Aldo Grassini), both aiding visually impaired visitors. A videogame for the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, conceived by Ludovico Solima, was also highlighted.
