56th Montrouge Contemporary Art Salon Highlights Emerging Artists

From May 5 to June 1, 2011, La Fabrique in Montrouge hosted the 56th Salon d'art contemporain, featuring 82 emerging artists chosen from a pool of 1,800 applications by a panel of 17 journalists, historians, and curators. The average age of the participating artists was 30, each utilizing a 20 m² exhibition space. Special guests included the École nationale supérieure de la photographie from Arles and Jean-Yves Jouannais, who showcased "La Lalangue de ta mémè­re." The event highlighted contributions from artists across 23 French departments, as well as Belgium, Scotland, and the Netherlands, with 37 female artists represented. Clément Cogitore was awarded the Grand Prix, while notable pieces included Sylvie Sauvageon's colored-pencil caravan and Xavier Antin's graphic chain of printers.
