55th Salon de Montrouge Opens with 84 Emerging Artists

exhibition · 2026-04-23

The 55th Salon de Montrouge opened on May 6, 2010, at La Fabrique in Montrouge, running until June 2, 2010. Curated for the second time by Stéphane Corréard, the salon has become a key event in Parisian artistic life. Corréard described the salon's spirit as finding 'young artists who appeal to the old and old artists who appeal to the young.' The selection of 84 emerging artists was made by a 'collège critique' from over 1,500 applications, without age or medium criteria. This year's invited honorary artist was Ernest T., following Arnaud Labelle-Rojoux in 2009. The scenography, designed again by Matali Crasset, offered clear views of each module, allowing artists to display multiple works. Notable painters included Aurian Guerard des Lauriers, Farah Atassi, and Mathieu Cherkit. Video works by Éléonore Saintagnan, Laetitia Badaud Haussmann, and Adrien Vescovi stood out. The Salon prize was awarded to Aymeric Ebrard, the special jury prize to Fabien Souche, and the Conseil général prize to Julien Salaud. All three winners will exhibit at the Palais de Tokyo in November 2010. The salon also featured students from the Lyon art school and aimed to bridge the gap between art school and professional life.
