51World unveils AperEgo headset to capture real-world data for embodied AI robots
Beijing-based tech company 51World unveiled a new suite of data-collection devices and platforms on Tuesday in Shenzhen, aiming to address the shortage of high-quality training data for embodied AI systems. Founder and CEO Li Yi said the lack of high-precision data is a major hurdle for developing humanoid robots that can operate with stability and certainty. The hardware includes the AperEgo headset, which uses a multi-camera system and sensors to capture panoramic views and synchronize visual, motion, and audio inputs, as well as wrist and finger devices for understanding hand movements. Data is processed through the AperOS platform, which filters invalid data to reduce storage and computing costs. Li claimed the integration of hardware and software can push precision up to 99%. A TrendForce report predicts China's humanoid robot market will reach 15 billion yuan (US$2.2 billion) in 2026 and grow by at least 60% in 2027.
