€50M Masterplan for Florence's Boboli Gardens Unveiled

The Boboli Gardens in Florence, a 33-hectare gem created by the Medici family behind Palazzo Pitti, is set to undergo a €50 million renovation initiative named Boboli 2030, with a target completion date of 2030. Recent efforts have included a €700,000 restoration of the Kaffeehaus, which opened in October 2022, along with €2.4 million allocated for additional projects. Future enhancements will feature a €3 million underground elevator, restoration of the Palazzetto al Prato dei Castagni for €1.45 million, and improvements to the Vasca del Nettuno costing €1.4 million. A third phase, valued at €16 million, will focus on various upgrades and the preservation of historic gates. The overall masterplan encompasses 40 projects, estimated at around €40 million, with an additional €12 million earmarked for green maintenance. Uffizi Galleries director Eike Schmidt highlighted the goal of establishing Boboli as the premier open-air museum globally.
