5 Italian Film Festivals to Watch Summer 2019

Summer 2019 offers numerous cinema events across Italy with an artistic bent. From the 'In wine the truth' festival turning Tuscan design wineries into architecture film venues, to open-air screenings at the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Naples on painters in cinema, and the Cinecamper traveling projector van through the Cuneo Alps. The fourth edition of Cinecamper del Nuovi Mondi, curated by Fabio Gianotti and Silvia Bongiovanni of Kosmoki, runs until August 9. The Cervino CineMountain, Europe's highest-altitude mountain film festival, takes place August 3-11 in Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche, featuring a new logo and itinerant screenings in Chamois, Torgnon, and Antey. It awards the Grand Prix des Festivals – Conseil de la Vallée. 'Pittori di Cinema' at Capodimonte runs July 23-28 with free outdoor screenings of films by directors who are artists and vice versa, including Blow Up by Michelangelo Antonioni and Amarcord by Federico Fellini. 'Cinema delle terre del mare' in Alghero, Sardinia, runs July 30-August 9, featuring independent films, classics, and cine-tourism itineraries at beaches like Rafael, Hermeu, Rosanna, Lazzaretto, and Vel Marì.
