5.5 designstudio Takes Over Artistic Direction of Les Puces du Design in Paris

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

The 35th edition of Les Puces du Design, Europe's first vintage design market, will be held from November 17 to 20, 2016, at the Parc des Expositions de la Porte de Versailles in Paris, moving from its previous location at Bercy. The collective 5.5 designstudio—Vincent Baranger, Jean-Sébastien Blanc, Anthony Lebossé, and Claire Renard—has been appointed for a three-year artistic direction to revitalize the event. Founded in the early 2000s, the group gained recognition with their 2003 project "Réanim," which repaired broken objects with fluorescent bandages. They have since worked with luxury brands like Baccarat and Veuve Clicquot, as well as everyday items for Espresso and Moulinex, and created the "Vache à lait" domestic milk dispenser in 2015. The new layout features five villages dedicated to period design, iconic brands, rare pieces, vintage fashion, and graphics, plus a section for design archives where visitors can purchase preparatory sketches and prototypes. A monographic exhibition honors Giò Ponti. The event's graphic identity uses pastel-colored squares inspired by classified ads, celebrating the diversity of vintage design against contemporary standardization. The collective aims to transform the market into a convivial festival open to all, moving beyond a purely commercial focus.
