5+1AA Designs New BNL BNP Paribas Headquarters in Rome
The architecture firm 5+1AA, led by Gianluca Peluffo and Alfonso Femia, has completed a new headquarters for BNL BNP Paribas in Rome's Tiburtina district. The building, operational from summer 2017, spans 75,000 square meters over 10 floors, with a length of 253 meters. The project required an investment of €83 million and was finished in five years, a notably short timeframe for Rome. Designed to house 3,500 employees, the structure features open-plan offices with panoramic views, aiming to transform work methods and logistics. The building is described as an urban wedge, a longitudinal prism that sits along railway tracks facing Pietralata, integrating between dense housing and rail infrastructure. Its double facade system reflects the surroundings, changing with light and seasons. Interiors are being fitted by Next Urban Solutions (Rome) and Paolo Mantero architetto (Milan). The design seeks to 'restore the sky, deforming it,' creating a dynamic space for both workers and arriving train passengers.
