4SPACE Translates Equestrian Heritage into Fluid Interior for Falwa Restaurant

4SPACE, a studio based in Dubai, has created Falwa, a 450 sqm dining establishment situated within the Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts (ADREA) grounds, for Michelin-starred Emirati Chef Faisal Alharmoodi. The restaurant's interior embodies Arabian equestrian heritage through a contemporary design approach, avoiding direct representations. The name 'Falwa,' which translates to a young female mare, subtly nods to Rabdan, the iconic horse of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The structure is enveloped in a custom dusty-white mineral plaster that mirrors Rabdan's coat. The main dining area showcases sculptural walls and ceilings with asymmetrical portals, while a central palm tree-inspired installation features a geometric canopy and mirrored elements. High-quality materials like Breccia Aurora marble and walnut timber are used, complemented by the Vibia Plusminus lighting system. The project required detailed 3D modeling and hidden MEP systems, with photography by Nour Sabbagh capturing the design.
