47 Boutique Hotel in Rome celebrates 20 years with new design collection

The 47 Boutique Hotel in Rome, one of the first art hotels in the Italian capital, has renovated its first floor to showcase iconic Italian design pieces for its 20th anniversary. The hotel opened in 2004 in a 1930s building designed by Antonio Barluzzi, originally used as the city's advertising office. The new design collection includes rooms dedicated to Piero Fornasetti, Vespa Piaggio, Alfonso Bialetti's Moka pot, Olivetti typewriters (including the Lettera 22 by Marcello Nizzoli, winner of the Compasso d'Oro in 1954 and now in MoMA's collection), the Castiglioni brothers, Gae Aulenti's Pipistrello lamp (1965), and the Brionvega Radio Cubo by Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper (1964). Other floors feature themes of fashion (Versace, Lagerfeld, Chanel), 1960s icons (Jimi Hendrix, Marcello Mastroianni, Sean Connery, Andy Warhol, Brigitte Bardot, the Beatles), photography, and views of Rome. The hotel's collection also includes works by Mastroianni, Modigliani, Greco, Quagliato, and Guccione.
