47 Artists Stage Political Exhibition 'Dizer Não' in São Paulo

The exhibition 'Dizer Não' opened on July 22 at Ateliê397 in São Paulo, featuring 47 artists and collectives. Organized by Adriana Rodrigues, Edu Marin, Érica Burini, and Thaís Rivitti, the show runs until September 19 as a political statement against the Brazilian government's pandemic response, cultural policies, and racist and LGBT-phobic stances. Rivitti describes the initiative as reclaiming art's ability to articulate social conflicts and public discontent. Initially conceived with a protest logic focused on quantity, the organizers shifted to ensure each artist's work could be presented with individual force, avoiding invisibility. The exhibition includes interventions, works made with 'combat' materials like markers and posters, and large-scale productions aiming for both discursive and plastic resistance. Without sponsorship or financial support, it operates independently through voluntary participation and collective funding. Burini notes the show demonstrates artists will not remain silent in the face of barbarism. Located at R. Cruzeiro, 802 – Barra Funda, São Paulo, it offers free admission on Thursdays and Fridays from 2 PM to 6 PM, and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 7 PM.
