3D Housing 05: 3D-printed house prototype at Milan Design Week 2018
During Milan Design Week 2018, CLS Architetti, in collaboration with Italcementi, Arup, and Cybe, presented 3D Housing 05, a 100-square-meter prototype of a 3D-printed house in Piazza Cesare Beccaria, Milan. The house is built using a cement powder mixture and can be demolished, pulverized, and rebuilt with the same material. Construction takes about a week, and the structure is low-impact, flexible, and can be expanded, raised, or relocated. The interior includes living, sleeping, cooking, and bathroom areas plus a livable roof, with materials like brass, marble, and plaster. The project aims to address housing emergencies and futuristic visions, even Mars colonization. It was on view from April 17 to 22, 2018.
