38 Italian Artists Show in Kyiv on the Silk Road

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The exhibition 'La Via della Seta. Arte e artisti contemporanei dall’Italia' opened July 30 at the Kyiv History Museum in Ukraine, running through August 24. It is the first stop of a traveling show that will visit Ankara, Tbilisi, Tashkent, and Beijing, ending in Xi'an in 2022, the Italy-China Year of Culture and Tourism. Conceived by the Istituto Garuzzo per le Arti Visive with support from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the project brings together works by 38 Italian artists from different generations, drawn from the Farnesina Collection. Curator Angela Tecce emphasized the mix of established masters and emerging talents. Artists include Carla Accardi, Alighiero Boetti, Jannis Kounellis, Michelangelo Pistoletto, and many others. The show features paintings, digital photography, video art, sculpture, and installations. Lorenzo Angeloni, Director General for the Promotion of the Country System at the Ministry, stated the exhibition aims to highlight the vitality of Italian contemporary art and its ability to dialogue with distant cultures. Istituto Garuzzo founder Rosalba Garuzzo expressed joy at presenting physical works in a time of virtual experiences.
