360 Manifestos by NESXT Take Over Turin for Salone del Libro
From May 9 to 13, the Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino, Italy's most important book fair, returns with an Off program involving libraries, museums, and cultural institutions across the city. A key event is MANIFESTO | iconografie dell'Indipendenza, a large-scale public poster exhibition created in collaboration between NESXT and Mercato Centrale Torino. The project features 360 posters (140×200 cm) selected from a call to independent spaces across Italy and beyond, asking for their 'manifesto of independence' in graphic and/or verbal form. 59 spaces were chosen. The posters have been displayed on advertising panels in Turin since May 2 and will remain until May 16. A selection will also be shown inside the Salone del Libro, then at Mercato Centrale Torino, and in September at the Macro in Rome. NESXT founders Olga Gambari and Annalisa Russo stated that the concept of independence transcends the artistic dimension to become social and civil reflection, stimulating critical awareness. Domenico Montano, General Director of Mercato Centrale, noted that art today seeks us in places of social reproduction, and the collaboration confirms Mercato Centrale's support for independent artistic research and production.
