33rd Lovers Film Festival in Turin Announces Program with Robin Campillo and Rupert Everett
The 33rd edition of the Lovers Film Festival will take place in Turin from April 20 to 24, 2018. The festival features four competitive sections: All the Lovers (international feature films), Real Lovers (documentaries), Irregular Lovers (innovative narrative), and Future Lovers (short films). Juries include Concita De Gregorio, Pif, Immanuel Casto, Margherita Giacobino, Lucia Mascino, Davide Scalenghe, Carlo Antonelli, Olga Gambari, Cosimo Terlizzi, and students from the University of Turin DAMS coordinated by Massimiliano Quirico. Special guests include Robin Campillo, who will hold a masterclass on April 22 and has a focus featuring his films Eastern Boys, 120 Battements par Minute, Dancing, and Les Revenants; Rupert Everett, who will attend the national premiere of The Happy Prince on April 10; and Valeria Golino as godmother for the closing night. New this year is the "Music Riot" format in partnership with SEEYOUSOUND International Music Film Festival, a contest for musicians/composers under 40 with a masterclass on April 11-12 by Teho Teardo. The festival also includes the Picturing Lovers photography section featuring Valeria Cherchi, Giona Mottura, Mar Saez, Sara Magni, Chiara Luxardo, Nicolás Biglié, and Benedicte Rodet. Awards include the Audience Prize (with My Movies), the Milk Prize for career achievement in LGBTQI rights, and the Stajano Prize in memory of Giò Stajano. The president of the festival is Giovanni Minerba.
