2nd FORMER WEST Research Congress: On Horizons at Istanbul Technical University

The second FORMER WEST Research Congress, titled On Horizons: Art and Political Imagination, took place from 4 to 6 November 2010 at Istanbul Technical University in Istanbul. The congress explored the theoretical concept of the horizon within artistic production and political imagination. Speakers included Julie Ault, Boris Buden, Lisette Lagnado, Peter Osborne, and Shuddhabrata Sengupta. Proceedings were streamed live and archived on the FORMER WEST digital platform. FORMER WEST is a contemporary art research, education, publishing, and exhibition project (2008–13) aimed at critically reinterpreting post-1989 histories and speculating on global futures, realized through an international network of researchers and institutional partners including Afterall.
