29th Mainel Foundation National Painting Prize Opens for Young Artists

The 29th National Painting Prize of the Fundación Mainel is now open for artists born after December 31, 1990, regardless of nationality. Each participant may submit one recent work (max two years old) not previously awarded, with dimensions up to 150×150 cm and weight up to 20 kg. Registration is online via the foundation's website until May 15, 2026. A pre-selection of up to twenty finalists will be announced on May 21, and physical works must be delivered to the foundation's Valencia headquarters by June 5. The jury includes Carla Alabau (director of Galería CLC Arte), Román de la Calle (professor at Universitat de València), Manuel Martínez Torán (professor at Universitat Politècnica de València), Carolina Valls (visual artist and professor at UPV), and Jorge Sebastián (art history professor and foundation president). Prizes: €5,000 for first place and €3,000 for second, with nine honorable mentions. The award ceremony is on July 8, 2026, and an exhibition of awarded works runs July 9–17 at the foundation's space.
