Planeta has released a commemorative edition of Carlos Ruiz Zafón's 'The Shadow of the Wind' to mark its 25th anniversary. The novel, which has sold over 25 million copies worldwide, was originally submitted by an unknown writer to the Fernando Lara Novel Prize organized by Grupo Planeta. It caught the attention of Enrique Murillo, one of the readers tasked with filtering texts for the jury. Zafón was not a novice; he had spent nearly a decade honing his craft in the youth literature genre, debuting successfully in 1993 with 'The Prince of Mist,' winner of the first Edebé Prize in that category. That debut, along with his subsequent three titles, already showcased the defining traits of his narrative universe. 'The Shadow of the Wind' became a global literary phenomenon, bringing the Gothic Barcelona to readers worldwide.
