25 Masterpieces from Accademia Carrara Adorn Humanitas Hospitals in Bergamo

Twenty-five masterpieces from the Pinacoteca di Bergamo, including works by Botticelli, Canaletto, Hayez, Lotto, and Raphael, have been installed in the Humanitas hospitals in Bergamo as part of the project 'La Cura e la Bellezza' (Care and Beauty). The selection involved a survey of doctors, nurses, and staff, with experts from Accademia Carrara focusing on significant details. The initiative aims to use art not only therapeutically for patients but also as a unifying and beneficial element for all hospital occupants. Giuseppe Fraizzoli, CEO of Humanitas Gavazzeni, explained the project's origins, noting previous collaborations like 'Energia della Bellezza' with Atelier dell'Errore. The partnership with Accademia Carrara began when Mantegna's 'La Resurrezione' was X-rayed and CT-scanned at the hospital in July before restoration. The chosen works follow the theme of beauty, with the symbol being 'San Girolamo e il Leone', referencing Bergamo's UNESCO-listed Venetian walls. The project engages everyone from receptionists to volunteers, creating a dynamic environment. Future plans include expanding the dialogue between the hospital and the museum to reach citizens beyond the hospital walls.
