24th Paiz Art Biennial Reveals Initial Artist Lineup for 2025-2026 Edition in Guatemala City

The Paiz Foundation for Education and Culture has announced the preliminary list of participants for the 24th Paiz Art Biennial, scheduled to run from 6 November 2025 to 15 February 2026 in Guatemala City. Curated by Eugenio Viola, this edition titled 'The World Tree' draws inspiration from the Tree of Life, symbolizing art's capacity to connect cultures and promote unity amidst global tensions. The biennial will center voices from the Global South while reclaiming ancestral knowledge and challenging dominant historical narratives. Featuring Guatemalan and international artists across generations, the selected works address contemporary life's paradoxes with a focus on interconnectedness within communities. The initial artist roster includes Maria José Arjona, Kader Attia, Erick Boror, Seba Calfuqueo, Jeffry Càn, Tania Candiani, Ali Cherri, Maria Adela Díaz, Adji Dieye, Elyla, Regina José Galindo, Ana Gallardo, Ximena Garrido-Lecca, Igor Grubić, Dor Guez, D Harding, Voluspa Jarpa, Alevtina Kakhidze, Kite, Jorge de León, Luz Lizarazo, Carlos Martiel, Tuan Andrew Nguyen, Chelsea Odufu, ORLAN, Antonio Pichillá, Veronica Riedel, Christian Salablanca, Jaanus Samma, Mithu Sen, Hiraki Sawa, Balam Soto, Jennifer Tee, Gian Maria Tosatti, Simón Vega, Martín Wannam, and Zhang Xu Zhan.
