festival-fair · 2026-04-23

The 24th Bienal de Arte Paiz, titled The World Tree (El Árbol del Mundo) and curated by Eugenio Viola, has been announced by the Fundación Paiz para la Educación y la Cultura. This edition will feature 46 artists across 11 venues, with participation from all five continents. Taking place over three months in Guatemala City and Antigua Guatemala, it will present 30 new artworks. Noteworthy aspects include a conversation between contemporary art and Mayan archaeological artifacts, along with a two-day VIP preview. Local collaborators, such as Ruta Maya and the Anthropology Congress, will host parallel events. Founded in 1978, this biennial ranks as the sixth oldest in the world and second in Latin America. A bilingual catalog will be released by Temblores Publicaciones.
