22,580 Drones Set Guinness World Record in Hefei Sky Show
On February 3, 2026, a Chinese company called Guangdong EHang Egret Media Technology Co., Ltd. broke a Guinness World Record by launching 22,580 multirotor drones simultaneously from one computer in Hefei, the capital of Anhui province. Out of all the drones, only about 25 failed to take off, which topped the previous record of 15,847. This impressive display was part of the 2026 China Media Group Spring Festival Gala, marking the upcoming Lunar New Year. The drones created 3D images of Hefei’s skyline, traditional Hui-style horse-head walls, and festive lanterns. EHang Egret emphasized how low-altitude technology can blend with cultural themes and enhance public interest in drone technology. This record follows their 2018 achievement of over a thousand drones in Xi'an.
