21 Artists Paint Sails for Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza

Twenty-one artists have joined the Global Sumud Flotilla's second humanitarian mission to Gaza, painting 44 sails across 22 boats. The flotilla departed from Augusta, Sicily, on April 26, 2026, aiming to reach Gaza in early May with aid. The first mission in September 2025 ended with activists arrested by the Israeli army. Artists include Antonio Curcio, Sid, Escif, Lydia Giordano, Glenda Costa, Gio Pistone, Millo, Elia Novecento, MP5, Matteo Todeschini, Alleg, Sam3, Okuda, Antonella Santonocito, Fabrizio Foti, Igor Scalisi Palmiteri, Andrea Sposari, and Salvo Ligama. The project Vele d'Arte was conceived by Carlo Alberto Giardina. The Sicilian collective MaleTinte painted the hull of the boat Andros. The flotilla includes 59 Italian and Spanish boats, joining others from Greece and Turkey. Organizers cite ongoing genocide and 60% of Gaza under Israeli control.
