2027 Venice Architecture Biennale Theme, Sovereign Prize Winners, Dubai MODA, ACC Grantees

Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu announced the 20th Venice Architecture Biennale theme: "Do Architecture – For the Possibility of Coexistence Facing a Real Reality," running May 8–November 21, 2027 at Giardini, Arsenale, and other venues. The Sovereign Art Foundation awarded Citra Sasmita the $30,000 Grand Prize for her kamasan canvas exploring postcolonial gender constructs; Nomin Zezegmaa won the $5,000 Vogue Hong Kong Women's Prize, and Joey Cobcobo the $1,000 Public Vote Prize. Dubai plans the Museum of Digital Art (MODA) as part of a $27 billion DIFC expansion, designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, overseen by Dubai Culture. The Asian Cultural Council granted over $1.6 million to 70 recipients, including 16 New York Fellows from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Japan, and Thailand, and 46 Individual Fellows for cross-cultural research.
