2026 Environmental Photography Award Winners Announced

The 2026 Environmental Photography Award, hosted by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, saw Britta Jaschinski take home the grand prize for her photograph titled 'Handprint on Sea Turtle,' which also secured the top spot in the 'Changemakers' category. A total of 36 photographs were shortlisted across seven categories, with winners in five categories—'Changemakers,' 'Forests,' 'Humanity vs Nature,' 'Ocean,' and 'Polar Regions'—each awarded €1,000 ($1,170). The Public Award and Student's Choice Award recipients received €500 ($585), while the Grand Prize was accompanied by a €5,000 ($5,850) grant. Jaschinski's striking image, created using fluorescent powder dyes, reveals a human handprint on a green sea turtle, aiding in wildlife forensics against poaching. Other notable winners included Doug Gimesy (Public Award), Arnaud Farre (Forests), Fernando Faciole (Humanity vs Nature), Henley Spiers (Ocean), and Vadim Makhorov (Polar Regions). The shortlisted works will be displayed on the Promenade du Larvotto in Monaco from May 28 to July 30, 2026, before embarking on an international tour. A publication featuring the selected images will be released by Skira Paris. Entries for next year’s competition will open on September 1.
