2025 Winners of Les Grandes Voix d’Opéra d’Afrique to Perform at Salle Cortot

The 2025 semi-professional category winners of the International Singing Competition Les Grandes Voix d’Opéra d’Afrique, organized by Africa Lyric’s Opera, will perform at Salle Cortot. The initiative, launched in 2007 by Women of Africa, identifies and supports opera talents of African and Afro-descendant origin. The concert program blends opera classics with gospel, American and African music, featuring works by Scott Joplin, Gaetano Donizetti, Gioacchino Rossini, Carl Maria von Weber, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Domenico Cimarosa, George Gershwin, Margaret Bonds, Fred Onovwerosuoke, Leonard Bernstein, Idir, André Marie Tala, and Ayub Ogada. Performers include tenor Vanhels Djoko, mezzo-soprano Camille-Taos Arbouz, and soprano Tahirah Zossou, with pianist Thomas Tacquet. Africa Lyric’s Opera also organizes innovative classical events, supports educational projects, creates music schools, offers scholarships, and holds masterclasses and international competitions.
