2025 Jarman Award Shortlist Announced with Exhibition at Whitechapel Gallery
The shortlist for the 2025 Jarman Award, now in its eighteenth year, has been revealed, featuring eight up-and-coming moving image artists from the UK. Among the selected talents are Hope Strickland, Arwa Aburawa, Turab Shah, Karimah Ashadu, Onyeka Igwe, Morgan Quaintance, and George Finlay Ramsay. This award celebrates works that reflect the innovative essence of Derek Jarman (1942–1994). The jury consists of Matthew Barrington (Barbican), Shaminder Nahal (Channel 4), Maryam Tafakory (2024 winner), Gilane Tawadros (Whitechapel Gallery), and Nicole Yip (Spike Island and Film London). For the first time, all shortlisted pieces will be displayed at Whitechapel Gallery from 18 November to 14 December 2025, with the winner announced in November 2025.
