2025 Global Art Awards Recognize Diverse Artists from Tibet to Australia

In 2025, numerous artists and cultural figures from around the world were celebrated with notable awards. In July, Christine Sun Kim, a sound artist from the U.S., became the inaugural recipient of the Radical Transformation Award from Japan's Henkaku Center at Chiba Institute of Technology. The Rubin Museum Himalayan Art Prize went to the Tibetan group Khadhok. Taiwanese American performance artist Tehching Hsieh was honored with the Tung Chung Prize Special Achievement Award from Taipei's Hong Foundation. Hoor Al-Qasimi, head of the Sharjah Art Foundation, received the Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters from the French embassy in the UAE. In August, Yolŋu artist Gaypalani Waṉambi earned the Telstra Art Award in Australia, while Sophie Cape from Sydney won the Hadley's Art Prize. First Nations artist Tony Albert was awarded France's Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.
