2017 Prix Ars Electronica Winners Announced

During the festival in Linz, Austria, held from September 7 to 11, the winners of the Prix Ars Electronica 2017 were revealed. Maja Smrekar received the Golden Nica in Hybrid Art for her work, K-9_topology. The Awards of Distinction in Hybrid Art were given to Paul Vanouse for The America Project, and to Gonçalo Freiria Cardoso and Ruben Pater for A Study into 21st Century Drone Acoustics. In the Digital Music and Sound Art category, Cedrik Fermont and Dimitri della Faille were honored for Not Your World Music: Noise in South East Asia. David OReilly took the prize for Computer Animation / Film / VFX for Everything, while Lisa Buttinger won in the u19 – Create Your World category. The Netidee Special Prize 2017 was awarded to Big Poop Data by Robert Miller and collaborators.
