1988 Cizeta-Moroder V16T Prototype, Once Owned by Giorgio Moroder, Heads to Auction

The unique 1988 Cizeta-Moroder V16T prototype, a supercar developed by music producer Giorgio Moroder and ex-Lamborghini engineer Claudio Zampolli, is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby's during Monterey Car Week from August 13 to 15. Known as chassis no. 001, this vehicle was part of Moroder's private collection until 2022 and is the sole model associated with his name. It boasts a pearl white finish, a red-leather interior, and a 6.0-liter V-16 engine producing 540 hp, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The car underwent restoration by Caneda Design in 2018 and was detailed by Rex Nguyen in 2024. Additionally, the auction includes a one-of-a-kind NFT featuring an E.P. of four Moroder-composed songs, a 3-D rendering by digital artist 'Soulajit', a 3-D scan, and digitized documentation. RM Sotheby's anticipates a sale price between $1.4 million and $1.8 million, with the lower estimate surpassing its 2022 sale price by $36,500. The vehicle was first showcased at the 1988 Los Angeles Motor Show, began production in 1991, and only 10 units were ever made.
