1985 Ferrari 288 GTO with 958 Miles Could Fetch $11M at RM Sotheby's Monterey Auction

At its annual Monterey auction, RM Sotheby's will present a 1985 Ferrari 288 GTO, which has only 958 miles on the clock, with an anticipated sale price between $9 million and $11 million. This vehicle, the 99th out of 272 produced from 1984 to 1987, is among six or fewer GTOs with under 1,000 miles. It boasts a Pininfarina design by Leonardo Fioravanti, a Kevlar hood, fiberglass body panels, and Rosso Corsa paint. The interior features Nero leather, optional air conditioning, and power windows. Powered by a matching-numbers 2.9-liter V-8 twin-turbo engine, it delivers 389 hp and 366 ft lbs of torque, achieving 0-60 mph in five seconds and a top speed of 179 mph. Certified by Ferrari Classiche, the auction will take place from Thursday, Aug. 13, to Saturday, Aug. 15. Earlier this summer, a similar model with 16,000 miles sold for over $6.8 million, supporting the valuation. The 288 GTO, Ferrari's first halo car introduced in 1984, has influenced later models like the F40, F50, Enzo, LaFerrari, and F80.
