18 European National Pavilions at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale

The 16th Venice Architecture Biennale, themed 'Freespace' and curated by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara, will commence on May 26, 2018. Among the highlights are 18 national pavilions from Europe. Albania showcases 'HAPËSIRA ZERO SPACE', which delves into liberated land in Tirana. The Czech and Slovak Republics present 'UNES-CO' by Kateřina Šedá. Croatia's 'CLOUD PERGOLA' tackles issues of hospitality and climate change, while Estonia's 'WEAK MONUMENT' challenges the concept of monuments. Finland's 'MIND-BUILDING' honors libraries, and France's 'INFINITE PLACES' reinterprets ten structures. Germany's 'UNBUILDING WALLS' reflects on nationalism, and Ireland's 'FREE MARKET' examines commercial spaces. Italy's 'ARCIPELAGO ITALIA' includes 70 works, and Lithuania makes its debut with 'THE SWAMP SCHOOL'. The Netherlands explores automation, the Nordic Pavilion questions nature, and Portugal looks into public projects. The UK will transform its pavilion, Russia will highlight railway infrastructure, the Holy See will debut 'VATICAN CHAPELS', Spain will present 'BECOMING', and Switzerland will focus on contemporary housing.
