17th Quadriennale d'Arte to Open in Rome in 2020 with Dual Curators
The Quadriennale di Roma held a press event at Villa Carpegna to review the 2018-2020 triennium under artistic director Sarah Cosulich, elected in November 2017. President Franco Bernabè announced that the 17th Quadriennale d'Arte will run from October 1, 2020 to January 10, 2021 at Palazzo delle Esposizioni. For the first time, the exhibition will feature two curators: Sarah Cosulich and Stefano Collicelli Cagol, presenting a unified curatorial project aimed at boosting international interest in Italian art. Bernabè stated that the 2020 show will dedicate space to historicized artists who worked with design and sound. The Quadriennale's offices are expected to move from Villa Carpegna to the former Arsenale Pontificio. Initiatives under Cosulich's direction include Q-Rated, a program of three-day workshops held in different Italian cities (2018 editions in Rome, Lecce, and Turin involved nearly 60 young artists and curators), and Q-International, a biannual call supporting foreign institutions that exhibit Italian artists. The first Q-International call supported institutions from 10 countries, including the New Museum (New York), Centre for Contemporary Art (Singapore), Van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven), and Point Centre (Nicosia).
