festival-fair · 2026-04-27

The 17th Lofoten International Art Festival (LIAF), named Fantasmagoriana, commenced on September 4, 2022, in Norway's Kabelvåg and Svolvær. Curated by Francesco Urbano Ragazzi, this year marks the festival's 30th anniversary. Kabelvåg was selected for its historical ties to Dada artist Kurt Schwitters during the Nazi era, while Svolvær serves as a vibrant cultural center, hosting five venues. Fantasmagoriana showcases the works of 37 international artists, organized into three sections: Venice, Oslo, and Lofoten, drawing inspiration from eight German ghost stories and the 1816 Villa Diodati meeting. Key installations include contributions from Pauline Curnier Jardin, Kenneth Goldsmith, and Marianne Berenhaut, all emphasizing sustainability.
