17 International Photographers Sell Prints to Support Emergency Hospitals in Afghanistan
Until September 15, a charity auction featuring 24 photographic prints from 17 acclaimed photographers is taking place on the Ishkar platform, with funds directed towards Emergency hospitals in Afghanistan. These prints, produced on Giclée Hahnemühle Pearl paper, are available in three sizes. This initiative, organized by Ishkar—a British social enterprise established in Kabul—marks its second year. Among the notable photographers are Steve McCurry, Lorenzo Tugnoli, Michael Christopher Brown, and Rena Effendi. The images focus on daily life rather than conflict. McCurry captures a man with doves at the Hazrat Ali Mosque, while Tugnoli portrays Kabul's brutal winter, highlighting that nearly two-thirds of Afghanistan's population lives in conflict-affected regions, with 340,000 displaced in 2018, totaling almost 2 million internally displaced, according to UNHCR.
