festival-fair · 2026-05-04

The 16th edition of the Giornate degli Autori, a joint initiative between ANAC and 100 Autori, will take place during the Venice Film Festival at the Lido. This year's selection includes films from Laos, Sudan, and Japan for the first time. Out of approximately 1,000 films viewed, 11 are competing for Best Film. The competition is characterized by themes of spirituality and popular culture. Notable films include "Only the Animals" by Dominik Moll (opening August 28), "La Llorona" by Jayro Bustamante, "They Say Nothing Stays the Same" by Jō Odagiri, "Un monde plus grand" by Cécile de France, "5 è il numero perfetto" by Igort (graphic novelist making his directorial debut), "Mio fratello rincorre i dinosauri" by Stefano Cipani, "Corpus Christi" by Jan Komasa, "Beware of Children" by Dag Johan Haugerud, "Un divan à Tunis" by Manele Labidi, "The Long Walk" by Mattie Do, and "Lingua Franca" by Isabel Sandoval. Drawing and graphic art are central this year, with Igort's film adaptation of his comic, Lorenzo Mattotti on the Bookciak award jury, and a documentary on Guido Crepax by Giancarlo Soldi featuring testimonies from Milo Manara, Tinto Brass, Mario Martone, Jacques Glenat, and Josè Munoz.
