16 Artists Bring Contemporary Art Inside the Uffizi Galleries
At the Uffizi in Florence, the exhibition 'Land In Land Out' showcases the works of 16 contemporary artists—eight from Italy and eight from Belgium—who engage with the masterpieces of Old Masters. This initiative was organized by Modo, a Brussels-based association founded by artists Serena Fineschi, Laura Viale, and Alessandro Scarabello, all of whom are participating in the exhibition. Collaborating with Francesca Sborgi and 13 other artists, the curators opted for small-format pieces in a 16:9 aspect ratio, displayed in intimate cases resembling secretaries. Notable dialogues include Fineschi and Dekyndt with Simone Martini's Annunciation and Neri and Gillen with Lorenzetti. This exhibition signifies a modern chapter for the museum.
